Martin Smith……former Royal Marine, Sports Therapist at Wentworth Health & Tennis club
“I am very pleased to be the Help for Heroes charity organiser for the Football for Heroes Event 2012. It is my greatest pleasure to be able to introduce the Army, Navy and Raf football teams battling it out for the Fallen Heroes Trophy and on the day there will be bucket collections, merchandise sales and a auction all in aid to raise much needed funds and awareness for this great charity.”
Help for Heroes was founded in 2007 and raised over £1M a month since then. The message is simple, to spend all we raise on the practical, direct support of those wounded in the service of our country.
In 2009 we pledged to raise £20M to provide regional recovery centres for the wounded the first was Edinburgh in 2009 and Further centres in Colchester, Catterick, Tidworth and Aldershot are to follow.
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels are proud to be supporting the British Heart Foundation to help raise £100,000 for the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal. The Mending Broken Hearts Appeal is one of the BHF’s most ambitious projects ever. Its goal is simple – to fund the research that could begin to literally ‘mend broken hearts’. Heart and circulatory disease is the UK’s biggest killer. If we have a heart attack our heart muscle is damaged forever and surgery and drugs can only limit the devastating effect this can have on our quality of life. In short, there is no cure for a broken heart. This groundbreaking research can change that and help us begin to repair damaged hearts in as little as 10 years’ time.
